Paul & SV Anima
German IT guy turned into a Caribbean sailor. I quit my IT job in Germany, moved to Curaçao, built a life around vacation, beach, sea, web design and online marketing — then years later spotted Anima (previously Bowalie) abandoned on a pier and bought her.
Now I am into fixing boats, sailing, exploring, and building websites from wherever the anchor drops.
What You’ll Find Here
Boat Restoration
Refits, repairs, upgrades, costs, and lessons learned from bringing Anima back to life.
Sailing Guides & Resources
Practical information for sailors, future liveaboards, and anyone planning a cruising lifestyle.
Cruising Life
Life aboard, Caribbean destinations, offshore passages, challenges, and the realities of full-time sailing.
Life & Work Afloat
Remote work, content creation, and building an online platform while living aboard.
Sailing Anima is part adventure, part boat restoration project, and where I am sharing my learned lessons.
Anima is my floating home — that I am restoring step by step with the goal of becoming more self-sufficient, more comfortable, and eventually capable of living largely off-grid.
Boat projects rarely happen as quickly as planned, and that’s where the adventures come in. Between repairs, upgrades, and the occasional unexpected challenge, I explore the Caribbean, discover new places, and share the realities of life aboard.
You’re welcome to follow the journey. Most blog articles are published in English, with summaries available in German for my German-speaking readers.
