After an unforgettable trip to Bonaire, I’ve dropped anchor once again — this time in a quiet lagoon in Curaçao. The water here is calm, the breeze steady, and life moves at the rhythm of the wind and the waves.

It’s the perfect place to slow down, get some work done, and truly live off-grid.

Out here, every day feels simple — but never boring. My mornings start with sunlight powering up the solar panels, coffee brewing on the stove, and the gentle sway of the boat beneath me. Then it’s on to the never-ending list of boat projects: small repairs, improvements to the off-grid systems, or just maintaining the things that keep this floating home running smoothly.

There’s something deeply satisfying about this lifestyle. Every bit of power I use comes from the sun, every drop of water is managed carefully, and every repair teaches me more about independence and patience. My hands are often covered in salt and fiberglass dust, but my mind is calm.

When the day winds down, the lagoon falls silent — only the sounds of the water lapping against the hull and the trade winds whispering through the rigging. It’s in those moments that I realize what this journey is really about. Freedom isn’t just sailing to new places — it’s learning to live simply, self-sufficiently, and completely in tune with nature.

For anyone dreaming about boat life or planning to live off-grid at anchor, I hope this glimpse into my Curaçao days inspires you to take that step — to drop the lines, chase the horizon, and find your own quiet lagoon.
